A few of Abby's favorite things...
With the holidays upon us, it's gifting season - which means finding a meaningful gift for someone else, creating a wish list of things we'd like for ourselves, and deciding on any final items for our businesses for the year (that may be considered a tax write-off - ask your CPA!). Here are a few ideas for yourself:
Standing desk - A few years ago I purchased the VariDesk Pro Plus 36 Electric ($359)- and have loved it ever since. Having the option to stand or sit throughout the day, especially because I work from a home office, is a great way to stay mobile. I also added the dual monitor arms ($231) to hold my external monitors, which helps me be more productive!
Note pads - For individual sessions, I'm a pen and paper, in a folder, in a locked filing cabinet kind of girl. These are my favorite note pads ($4 each) - I prep sessions in the left column, take notes on the right, and add follow-up to the bottom. A new kind of Cornell note taking, anyone?
Google Workspace - I use this platform for secure, custom-for-your-business email, videoconferencing, calendars, Google Drive, e-signatures on documents, and more. Sign up here for 10% off your first year (price depends on the plan you select).
Recovery sandals - We don't wear shoes in our house, except for OOFOS. These are super comfortable (they feel like you're walking on clouds!), they reduce stress on your knees, ankles, and joints, and they are great for my standing desk. These sandals ($60) are my favorite, but they have many different types of shoes to choose from.
Commonality cards - Designed by some of my favorite people who do youth development and leadership work in Georgia, these cards have various icebreaker questions ($15) to help groups learn more about each other. A set also comes with a guide for 20 ways you can use your cards!
State park pass - A long-standing weekend hobby is for our family to get out for a hike (yes, even with our little ones!). A Georgia state park pass ($50) gets us into most of the state parks for free for a year - where we enjoy hiking, kayaking, camping, and being in the great outdoors. Even if you're not in Georgia, consider checking if your state offers something similar!
