Good News #1 – The Explore guide has hit over 300 downloads
We are floored. What started as a tiny idea, a "wouldn't it be cool if," has turned into something so much more. To those who have downloaded this resource and used it, we are thoroughly honored to be a part of your entrepreneurial journey - whether it helped you say yes to private practice, say not just yet, or realize this career path isn't for you. Thank you, and help us keep spreading the word to those who might need this!
Good News #2 – We had three abstracts accepted for AASP 2026
We look forward to seeing you in Minneapolis this October for the Association for Applied Sport Psychology annual conference, where we'll be presenting:
Where’s the Line?: Making Ethical Decisions around Scope of Practice in Entrepreneurship
We are thrilled to be part of a panel, along with Theresa Mucci and Erin Haugen, to talk about ethics in entrepreneurship. We'll focus on navigating ethical decisions around marketing, initial consultations, and referring out - for providers along the entire spectrum of mental health and mental performance.
Overcoming Challenges at the Start of an Entrepreneurial Journey
You can find Lindsey, alongside Carla Carter and Rebecca Lawler, on a panel to discuss the challenges of being an entrepreneur. In particular, we will explore the realities of the first 1–2 years of entrepreneurship, including getting paid, building clients, managing emotional ups and downs, and balancing perfectionism with progress.
Stop Keeping Yourself a Secret: Perspectives on Marketing in Private Practice
Back for another 5 Slides in 5 Minutes session, Abby, along with other members of the AASP Business Ownership Special Interest Group (Carla Carter, Tage Waite, Stephanie Cameron, Rebecca Lawler, Rafaella Chaves), will share brief perspectives on changing the way we think about marketing to allow people who are looking for you to find you - right now.
We have a few other things in the works for the conference this year, and we look forward to sharing more soon!
Good News #3 – Abby was recently on a panel of AASP Committee Chairs
Abby enjoyed spending time with Betsy Shoenfelt, Alan Chu, Angel Brutus, and Michael Sachs as they had the opportunity to discuss and reflect on various aspects of being a leader within the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). While this was hosted for the LEAD Academy, the video is open access - so if you've been thinking about getting more involved with AASP, give it a watch!
Good News #4 – Abby was accepted as an AASP Fellow
We're excited to share that Abby has been accepted into the AASP Fellows as a part of the 2026 class! Fellows of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology are a group of members who have significantly contributed to academic and professional practice knowledge in sport, exercise, and performance psychology. This is really an honor - one that acknowledges a lot of "little steps" along Abby's journey in the field since 2012. She is thrilled to contribute to the organization as a part of this esteemed group moving forward, particularly as a masters-level practitioner.
